Setting up the Zebra ZD410 on a computer (Mac or Windows)

Here you will find a clear guide for installing the Zebra ZD410 on a Windows or Mac computer. The installation below can also be used for the Zebra LP2824 Plus.

The supported connection to the Zebra ZD410 from a MAC or Windows computer is established via a certified USB cable (version 2.0).

 

The installation of the Zebra ZD410 for printing custom labels involves the following steps shown below:

 

  • Connecting the Zebra ZD410 printer
  • Inserting the label roll for the Zebra ZD410
  • Calibrating the Zebra ZD410 printer
  • Printing the configuration reports
  • Adding the Zebra ZD410 to your computer (MAC or Windows)
  • Formatting the computer settings
  • Formatting the Firefox browser settings

1. Connecting the Zebra ZD410 printer

  1. Follow the steps below to connect the printer to a power outlet. The light on the power cycle rectangle will turn green as soon as the power is connected.

NOTE: It is best to use direct connections instead of USB hubs and extension cords.

 

2. Insert the label roll for the Zebra ZD410

  1. Pull the yellow tabs towards you and pull the cover up to open it.
  2. Pull the yellow roll guides apart and place the roll with the labels facing up.
  3. Release the roll guides and push them together to ensure the roll is secure and rotates freely.
  4. Pull the labels out past the cutter at the front of the printer.
  5. Push the labels under the roll guides.
  6. Fold the labels up to adjust the media sensor to the standard center position.
  7. Press the cover down until both yellow tabs click shut.

 

3. Calibrating the Zebra ZD410 printer

Perform an initial calibration so that the printer recognizes the dimensions of the labels:

  1. Follow the steps above for inserting the label roll.
  2. Press the power button and wait until the green indicator light stays on steadily.
  3. Hold down the pause and cancel buttons for 2 seconds and release them. The printer will measure and feed a few blank labels.
  4. Calibration is complete once the printer stops and the indicator light stays on steadily.

 

ZD410 Installation

 

NOTE: An initial calibration is required when labels from a new roll have different dimensions. You do not need to calibrate after inserting a new roll with labels of the same dimensions. The printer will adjust automatically, or you can press feed twice before printing. If you are using a Zebra LP2824 Plus, hold down the green feed button and release it after the status light ring flashes once, then twice.

 

4. Printing the configuration reports

Print the configuration reports to verify that the printer is working:

  1. Follow the steps above for inserting the label roll.
  2. Press the power button and wait until the green indicator light stays on steadily.
  3. Hold down the feed and cancel buttons for 2 seconds and then release them. The configuration reports will be printed.

Note: If you are using a Zebra LP2824 Plus, hold down the green feed button and release it after the status light ring flashes once. Press the power button to turn off the printer.

 

5. Adding the Zebra ZD410 to your computer (MAC or Windows)

MAC

  1. Follow the steps in sections 1 to 4 above.
  2. Connect the certified USB cable (version 2.0) from the printer to the USB port on your computer.

 

 

 

Press the power button and wait until the green indicator light stays on steadily.

NOTE: It is normal for the network indicator light to be red when using a USB connection.

Click in the top left of the screen on > System Preferences.

 

 

 

Click on Printers & Scanners.

 

 

In the left Printers section, click + > Add Printer or Scanner.

 

 

In the Add window, select the Zebra ZD410 and click Select Software in the Use drop-down list.

 

 

In the Printer Software window, select the driver that matches your label dimensions:

  • Standard, small, and alternative labels: select the Zebra EPL2 Label Printer driver

 

 

 

    • Click OK.
    • Click Add in the Add window.
    • Close the Printers & Scanners window.

 

Windows

If you follow the steps below, the Zebra ZD410 printer will be installed automatically.

 

  1. Follow the steps in sections 1 to 4 above.
  2. Connect the certified USB cable (version 2.0) from the printer to the USB port on your computer.

 

 

 

 

Press the power button and wait until the green light with the diamond shape stays on steadily.

NOTE: It is normal for the network light (rightmost symbol) to be red when using a USB connection.

Right-click the Windows Start menu > Settings to open the Control Panel.

 

 

Note: If you are using Windows 7 or lower, click the Windows Start menu with the left mouse button instead of right-clicking.

Click Devices and then Printers & scanners.

 

In the Printers & scanners section, confirm that the ZDesigner ZD410-203dpi ZPL is added.

 

6. Formatting the computer settings

If you are using a Windows computer, you must format the computer settings.

  1. Right-click the Windows Start menu > Settings to open the Control Panel.

 

 

Note: If you are using Windows 7 or lower, click the Windows Start menu with the left mouse button instead of right-clicking.

Click Devices and then Printers & scanners.

 

 

Click ZDesigner ZD410-203dpi ZPL and select Manage.

Click Printing preferences.

On the Options tab, enter the label dimensions in inches.

 

NOTE: Also select Mark Sensing on the Advanced Setup tab if you are printing jewelry labels.

 

 

Click OK.

Click Printer properties.

On the General tab, click Preferences.

 

 

On the Advanced tab, click Printing Defaults.

 

 

Go to the Printer Settings tab and check Always use driver settings.

 

 

Click OK. - Close the Devices and Printers window. Et voilà.
