ZEBRA MANUAL FOR WINDOWS

Follow these steps to install a Zebra GK420d or ZD420d printer on Windows 10.

You can also follow these steps if your printer was working but is no longer printing.

Installing Zebra Setup Utilities

Do not connect the printer to the computer yet. Download the Zebra Setup Utilities for Windows.

Install the Zebra Setup Utilities application by clicking through all the steps using the default settings.

Zebra Set-up

Installing the Zebra printer

Now that Zebra Setup Utilities is installed, you can use it to install and configure your Zebra printer.

Open the Zebra Setup Utilities application.

Zebra prepair Wizzard

Select USB and click 'Next'

Zebra euro-label

As soon as you see this screen, connect the Zebra printer to the computer and turn the printer on.

Wait for Windows to recognize the printer; this will happen automatically and will be set up by Windows. You can tell this has happened when the printer appears in the "Devices and Printers" overview in the Windows Control Panel.

Now click 'Finish' in Zebra Setup Utilities.

In this screen, you will now see your printer, which has been automatically installed by Windows. If you have installed multiple Zebra printers, you will see them all listed here.

The printer has now been successfully installed.

Configuring the Zebra printer

With these steps, you can correctly set up the Zebra printer for paper size and print quality for parcel services such as PostNL and DPD. We assume you are using A6 labels (4 x 6 inches), which is standard for most parcel services.

In the Zebra Setup Utilities application, select the Zebra printer you want to configure.

Then click Configure Printer Settings

Under Units, select mm

Under Width, select 100mm

Under Height, select 150mm

Click 'Next'

Under Speed, select 4.0

Under Darkness, select 10

Click 'Next'

These options are already correct by default, but just to be sure: Web Sensing and both input fields set to 0.

Click 'Finish'

Your printer is now configured.

Calibrating the Zebra printer

It is often necessary to calibrate your printer after configuring it. This allows the printer to learn how the paper is positioned and where a label begins and ends.

If, after setting the correct paper size, the labels are still printing incorrectly, this can often be resolved by calibrating the printer.

In the Zebra Setup Utilities application, select the Zebra printer you want to calibrate.

Then click Open Printer Tools

Click the Action tab

Select Calibrate media

Click Send

The printer will now print 2 to 5 blank pages. After this, the printer is calibrated and you can close the Zebra tool.

and BAM!
